Socialist Anxiety is a band that is best described with the word “loud.” Audience members have likened their sound to Creed and Nickelback, and fans, likely not wanting to embarrass themselves, have claimed to hear the Asheville group channel anything from Dead Kennedys to My Bloody Valentine to Rush to Slint. This eclectic range of influences comes as a result of the band consisting of an amount of musicians wholly unreasonable for the sounds they produce, with as little as four members, to as many as ten people on stage at a time, depending on the song and size of the stage. An act best seen in person, Socialist Anxiety all but guarantees you’ll think to yourself, “How can they possibly cram a single other person on this stage?” and “Geez I sure am glad I’m wearing earplugs.””
